Import AutoCAD file to adobe illustrator and retain groups

I need to export a file from autocad into adobe illustrator. But when exporting to groups of objects, they lose the group. how can i keep those groups in adobe illustrator.

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind sharing the screenshots of how the layers or object groups look in AutoCAD and how the group layers look after importing the AutoCAD file in Illustrator?

 

It would be really helpful if you screen-record your workflow demonstrating the issue you are facing.
