New Document size value resetting in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign 2025

Hey,
I have the same issue in every Adobe programm I use - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
The issue has come up in the past week and occures on multiple machines if I try.
Newest version is installed and still has the issue.

Whenever I go to create a new file and try to type in the sizes, it keeps resetting back to the last used numbers for 3-4 times until it finally gives up wanting to change it.
This is immensly annoying and I can't find any info about this. Any idea what that might be?

Best regards

I just searched Uservoice and was not finding something that matched, so I created one myself.

This has been happening to me for at least a year. It’s extremely frustrating. It’ll switch from inches to px and the dimensions change. I haven’t figured out what it’s reverting to as just now it reverted to 2.14px and I definitely have never created that small.

I've been experiencing this very same issue, and it's even with different computers and installations and licensed versions. The issue is definitely with the software itself.

I have 2 Win11 PCs (one at work and one at home) plus my m1 macbook, all on latest versions & this issue persists across ALL of them. would be nice if they stopped foisting their useless AI garbo on us for a while and focused on fixing some bugs for a change.. just "we are unable to reproduce this issue" alrighty then 😕😕

Hello @mosesconspiracy,

I'm sorry to hear about the persistent issues with Illustrator. To help troubleshoot further, could you please try running Illustrator in Safe Mode (Win / Mac) and check if the behavior persists. Ensure only Adobe apps are open during this session and observe if the resetting occurs.

If the issue still happens in Safe Mode, would you be open to having a debug session with our product/engineering team? This would allow us to investigate the issue more closely and gather additional insights. If you’re okay with that, please send me the following details via private message:

1. Your Adobe ID.

2. Country and Timezone.

3. Phone number (with country code).

4. Your preferred dates and times for a session (Monday–Friday).

Looking forward to your response.

This still happening for me, in photoshop specifically.  Adobe just gets worse and worse.

Also happening for me on Illustrator and photshop. It is very frusrating as I make multiple sizes a day very quickly, so consisently have to double check to make sure its right. Slows down the process alot.

The fact that they keep stating they are "unable to replicate the issue" is almost as frustrating as this issue itself. Of course they are unable to replicate because it is something that happens randomly! Sometimes I go days without it happening even one time and other days it happens between every single new file I make (for context I am creating around x10-x25 new files per day, all with different sizes and bleed settings as well). This has been happening for over a year now, and is extremely dangerous for me specifically because I am working with print production files for large format event signage which need to be extrememly accurate in order to fit dims provided by our CAD department for custom structures. I have to triple check every time I make a new file that my sizes match what I intend to avoid expensive reprints. I have gotten into the habit now of verifying my entered sizes, but this should not be happening with software that we pay so much for. Its actually unacceptable.

I am also having this issue in Illustrator and Photoshop (that's the only software I use). I've noticed this happening for the past several months and am on Windows 11 and using up to date Adobe apps. Extremely frustrating.

Same here. For me, I think this started after the latest "big" updates. Happens on both Illustrator and Photoshop. It's really, really frustrating.

FWIW, there was an Illustrator update that I applied just a few minutes ago, and in my extremely small amount of testing, so far, the issue hasn't happened again. Will see if it pops back up.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your patience. We are unable to reproduce this issue on our end. To help troubleshoot further, could you please try running Illustrator in Safe Mode (Win / Mac) and check if the behavior persists. I'm not really sure when this started happening to me (maybe last summer) but it's been quite awhile and I'm sick of it. I can't believe this is still a problem.

I have the exact same issue on Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I have made templates of my most common sizes/details in order to avoid the New Document window all together. I usually type some sizes/details out knowing it will reset and then wait a minute before typing in new sizes/details for the second time. Sometimes it will reset again even after the second time. It will always go back to the first most recent item in the Recent tab.

I saw someone in this thread mention to go to the Saved tab before entering stuff into the details section to save themselves from the resetting. I supposed I'll do this for now. Just wanted to add my voice to this thread, it's very annoying.

Also, this happens on my Mac as well as my PC.
