after updating to illustrator 2023, whenever I use two fingers + trackpad to navigate - it feels laggy like playing game on low FPS. However when I use spacebar + mouse, it's fine and smooth.

Hi @radek5,

Thanks for reaching out. This is expected behavior when navigating using a touchpad in comparison to the hand tool using the spacebar + mouse. If you see similar behavior with mouse scroll & two finger navigations with a touchpad, then this is due to the OS mouse & touchpad settings.

However, if there is a huge difference in navigation using the touchpad/ Mouse & hand tool, would you mind sharing a screen recording of the issue along with your touchpad & mouse tracking speed settings and system specs?

I'll be looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Anshul Saini

hi I am uploading screen recording, as you can see - spacebar + mouse is very dinamic, while two fingers on trackpad is laggy (however using two fingers to zoom in and zoom out works fine). I tried instaling older versions of illustrator and the issue still was there, so this might be something with newest MacOS - Ventura? Since that issue is pretty new and I didn't have this problem before (my friends also don't have this problem and I am pretty sure that they are on older OS)

Hi @radek5,

Thanks for sharing the screen recording. I confirm this expected behavior. I have the same movement even on blank documents. The hand tool pans faster around the artboard, whereas two-fingers trackpad panning will move slower, which is as expected. I checked with multiple versions of Illustrator on macOS Ventura & Monterey.

However, if it is not happening on your colleague's end, then would you mind getting a screen recording & their system specs so we can further investigate the issue?

Thanks,
