Question

White graphics & logos preview in my libraries displays with white background, so I can't see them

Hello everyone,

I use the CC library frequently, but it's really frustrating that white graphics and logos appear as white backgrounds in the preview. Even though the graphics and logos have a transparent background, they appear as solid white backgrounds instead of the grayscale separation they used to have. This is why I'm having a hard time finding what I'm looking for. I've seen threads about this, but most of them are from a few years ago, and I've read someone on the Adobe team will address this issue. However, the problem persists. How can I fix this?

Hello @izzets6586254,

The product team has asked for more info. Could you share a screenshot of the Creative Cloud app version by opening the Creative Cloud Desktop app > Menu > Help > About Creative Cloud?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

It is easy to reproduce. I have Adobe Creative Cloud Version 6.7.0.278

Create a circle in Illustrator and fill it with white (no stroke unless that is white too).

Drag it to a CC library.

The circle disappears against a white background in the preview.

Hi @izzets6586254,

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. I can see how frustrating it is when white graphics blend into the preview background in the Libraries panel. Right now there isn't an option to change the preview background, which is why transparent white artwork ends up looking like a solid white block. A workaround for now is to place the asset on an artboard or a darker background in Illustrator, so it's easier to spot.

I understand how important this functionality is for your workflow. It would be great if you could add your request here: https://adobe.ly/4nziq9D. Submitting it there helps the team prioritize the improvement, and you'll also get notified when there are updates.

Best,

Abhishek

At least in the latest Illustrator versions (e.g. 30.3) you can show a transparency grid for the previews (in the CC Library panel flyout menu).

Unfortunately, you still cannot do this in the regular Symbols panel.
