Assets in CC Library appear with a white background (because of that white graphics are not visible)

Some assests in my CC Library appear with a white background, and because of that white graphics are not visible at all.

I've tried several workarounds found on the Community forums like a) opening the asset with Edit, making an adjustment (group and ungroup) and hitting Save, and b) placing a PDF and making sure options are for having a transparent background, and after that reimporting graphics to CC Library, but nothing has helped.

I use InDesign 19.5 most of the time, but it's the same working in Illustrator 28.7.1 as well. I work with M1 MacBook Air and macOS Ventura 13.6.9.

What takes? Why do some of my assets have white backgrounds and some don't?

Is there any solution to this? When placed, the vector graphic appears without the white background. However, it is impossible to preview the vector graphic in CC Libraries as the white graphic is on a white background. We have a very hefty library of white graphics that are now impossible to use. What is the timeframe for this to be fixed?

InDesign has a toggle for transparent background when placing files.

Place any file into an InDesign document an use Show Options (or hold down the Shift key when placing).

This will give you a dialog box with a checkbox for Transparent Background.

Once turned on it stays on, also for objects placed from a CC Library.

I'm also experiencing this issue.

  • InDesign version 20.1
  • Mac Sonoma 14.5

A big flaw with a simple fix I'd have thought?!

The library is supposed to make assets convenient and easy to access. I work with many icons, but my libary is extremely difficult to access since the transparency became an issue. Despite clear naming conventions on all of my assets, not having the ability to quickly identify the icons I need by visually scrolling my library is a big pain point.

Please rectify this ASAP, Adobe!

Is there any update to this issue? I am also having this issue, running on macOS Sequioa 15.2 and Illustrator 29.2.1

Hello? Is there any answer to this issue that has been a problem for many years now? Or is this just one more thing that Adobe is going to ignore forever?
