Wrong size while exporting png from Illustrator?

I have a work measuring 250x250px. I exported as png in Illustrator but the work was 1042x1042px. If I reduce 250x250px, the resolution is distorted. How can I output 250x250px without losing resolution?

Choose 72 PPI in the PNG options when exporting (1042 px indicates you exported at 300 PPI: 250 x 4.1666).
