Can I create symbols on the ipad?

I am following a youtube example but the example is using Adobe Illustrator on the Mac computer and I am trying to follow along on my ipad.  I am able, so far, to figure out the differences.  However, I want to save what I have as a symbol and then use that symbol.  I don't see a way to create or use symbols on the ipad.  Can anyone help?

Thank you,

John

Correct answer Laura Coyle.

The iPad version (1.2) of Illustrator does not have symbols yet, hopefully that will be available in the future. When you open a file with symbols created on the desktop, you won't be able to edit them on the ipad. You can create CC Libraries assets that you can access on the iPad though, which might provide a workaround for now.
