Deselect awkward above locked objects

Hi,

 

Tapping to deselect an object over another locked one is giving me awkward results.

 

Here—video attached—I need to work over a particular colour, so I have a locked box in the background. Attempting to deselect from the shape in the front takes anywhere from 1-4 taps of the pen.

I cannot reproduce this. I can select/deselect with one tap using either the Apple Pen or my finger.

  • Can you show your Layers panel?
  • Can you confirm which pen you are using?
  • For testing purposes only, what happens when you select/deselect with your finger?
