Question

Illustrator Crashing on iPad Air

I can open Illustrator and my document fine, but the moment I try to select anything, it crashes. I am using an iPad Air (4th gen) with an Apple Pencil (2nd gen). My iPad is fully up-to-date (iPadOS 17.1.2), as is my Illustrator app (3.0.5). This problem persists regardless of whether I try to select with the pencil or with my finger. I have tried restarting my iPad and deleting and redownloading the app, and neither fixed the problem. I looked for the "show effects when using Apple Pencil" setting to turn that off as others have suggested, but this iPad model doesn't support Apple Pencil effects so that option is not there.

Hello @user6789609,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're facing with Illustrator on your iPad Air. We understand how frustrating this can be.

We have released version 3.0.6, which includes improvements and bug fixes, particularly addressing crash issues related to Apple accessories like the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard.

Please update the Illustrator app to the latest version (3.0.6) and see if the problem persists. After updating, if you're still encountering crashes, please let us know, and we'll do our best to assist you further.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Best,

Anshul Saini
