Illustrator on iPad crashes immediately when internet is turned on (iPadOS compatibility bug)

The recent updates have completely broken Illustrator on iPad, and Adobe Support is actively trying to cover it up instead of fixing the code. I am a professional Adobe Stock contributor, and I have been unable to work for half a month due to non-stop crashes during import and export.

When I contacted support, they literally told me to buy a new iPad because my 3GB RAM device is "no longer supported." This is an absolute lie and a scam. Adobe Fresco runs perfectly fine on the exact same device without a single crash! Furthermore, this forum is flooded with identical complaints from users with much newer iPad models. It is a massive software architecture bug, not a hardware issue.

Adobe is paralyzing professional creators who bring them content and profit. Fix this bug immediately, escalations to engineering are useless if you just ignore your customers!

I have the same problem. Both iOS and the app are updated, there is more than sufficient RAM and more than half empty storage on the ipad. The app had worked on the same device for a few years without issues. I haven’t touched the app for about a month; today - it crashes every time when an old or new project is open. When it turn off WiFi it work. Please let me know if I should upload the logs here, I hope this issue can be taken seriously and solved.

Thank you for sharing this! It proves that the issue is completely on Adobe's side, especially since turning off Wi-Fi changes the behavior. It has nothing to do with our hardware.

Please upload your crash logs (.ips) right away and share the link here for Community Manager Anubhav M, or send it to him via DM. Also, make sure to open an official support ticket and demand an escalation to the engineering team. The more logs they receive from different users, the faster they will be forced to fix this broken update. We need to push them together!

    Hello Anubhav,

Thank you for reaching out. Here is the link to my recent crash log file (.ips): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gQ8hzWEXw-4Si7VTsHGUwrUmpCBdL8RL?usp=sharing

This crash happens consistently every time I try to import or export files. Please note that I have already provided these technical details and logs to the standard support team under active ticket ADB-45643208-P433, but unfortunately, they kept insisting on hardware limitations instead of analyzing the software failure.

I deeply appreciate you taking over this investigation to push it to the engineering team. Looking forward to your updates.

    Best regards,
    Liudmyla

    Hello @Люда+Лисак

We understand how frustrating it can be to experience crashes in Illustrator, especially in the middle of work. Could you kindly share the crash report so that we can investigate this further:

    • Open iPad Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data. You will see file names like “Illustrator-2023-01-03-083327.ips” (2023-01-03 is the date in the log & 083327 is the time). Ensure you share the recent log file after the crash by looking at the timestamp.
    • Upload the file to a file-sharing service of your choice and share a link to the file here or via DM.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Anubhav
