Illustrator on iPad keeps crashing

I just downloaded illustrator and the app keeps crashing once I click on the file. It'll open the app, then allow me to click on the file that I'd like, but once it opens the file it shuts down the second I press a tool on the screen. I tried compressing the file and that didn't do much. At 318 kb it shouldn't be an issue right? Does anybody else have that problem? I'm also trying to work on construction blueprints, so maybe that helps.

and I already updated the app, so there aren't any other updates that I can see from the App Store.
