Question

Illustrator on iPad Pro crashes almost every time I open a file

When I open illustrator and try to open a file, the app crashes about 10-15 times before it actually opens the file and I can begin working. It's starting to get ridiculous that there hasn't been a fix for this. I've had this issue for over a year and nothing is being done except new AI advancements that don't even work the way they're advertised. People need to do work on your products not just play around, it's really important these issues are resolved for those of us with business' to run.

Do you know how bad it looks to a client to be trying to show your work and have the app crash 10 times before the meeting can continue. And they ask, 'this is the software you use?" It's extremely embarrassing.

Hello @Arbi29590396m3ef,

We understand how frustrating it can be to experience crashes in Illustrator, especially in the middle of work. Would you mind updating the OS and the Illustrator app to the latest version and checking if it helps?

(https://adobe.ly/3PSmPWe), (https://adobe.ly/4akYu3n)

Also, kindly check if all of your work is synced online (https://adobe.ly/4cDg6ZU). If yes, try deleting Illustrator, restarting your device, and then reinstalling the app to check if it helps.

If the issue persists, kindly share the crash report so that we can investigate this further:

  • Open iPad Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data. You will see file names like “Illustrator-2024-01-03-083327.ips” (2023-01-03 is the date in the log & 083327 is the time). Ensure you share the recent log file after the crash by looking at the timestamp.
  • Upload the file to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc. and share a link to the file here or via DM.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Anubhav
