Ipad Pro 3rd Gen lag, pixel freezes/glitch, not catching up to resizes and moves

I just purchased an Ipad Pro 3rd gen in hopes of doing some casual illustrations. The program is unusable though. It loses track after about three resizes or pen strokes and never "catches up." 

I'm on the most current v. of adobe and Os for the Ipad. Using the apple pencil. I've tried starting and uninstalling and reinstalling. Is this just how the program runs? 

I was having some luck turning the ipad from landscape to portrait and sometimes that would "refresh" the changes but that's not a long term soltuion. It's like trying to work on an etch a sketch!
