I want to sketch in Illustrator on an iPad, then transfer the sketch to a desktop running the full version of Illustrator.
1) is this possible?
2) will I have to pay for both versions of Illustrator?
I have heard the mobile app on iPad is not that great, any input?
The mobile app doesn't have the full feature set, which doesn't mean it's not great. It depends on whether it fulfills your needs.
If you want to use the desktop app and the mobile app, I would subscribe to the desktop app, because the mobile app is included in that. If you just subscribe to the mobile app, then you cannot use the desktop app.
