Question

PNG files not exporting full resolution

Hey there, just wondering if anyone else is encountering this issue.

When I export a png with a transparent background on my ipad and then import it into another program, lets say illustrator on my desktop or silhouette studio on my desktop, the image is tiny. I have to export it as 4X scale in order for it to be the right size but it turns out super blurry. My canvas size is the same size and in the same units on both the ipad and the program in which I am importing into. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks!

I am having the same problem. I am creating a coloring book for self publish. I got the proof and the illustrations I did on Affinity Designer look fine. But those on illustrator for the ipad are pixelated or blurry, just bad quality. I saved them as png's. The size of the page is 8.5 and I drew them at 8.5 size so why would it pixelate or blur. Do I need to redo in Affinity Designer or try to save in illustrator as jpg? I have a free trial but will cancel if this can''t be fixed. Any ideas?

PNG is a raster based file format, so what do you expect?

Also: 8.5 in which unit? mm? At which resolution do you export? How many pixels are there in the file? How much detail? Can we see an example?

I am not seeing any issue on my side. My documents export at the correct size, and with 4x, they export at the correct 4x size, without blurriness.

What size is your Ilustrator document, and what size (in pixels) is the PNG file result you are seeing? If your Illustrator file is very small, that could be a source of your issue. Please provide a little more information about the PNG files you've created.

And if you are wondering what is the size of your Illustrator file, drag a rectangle over the art board, you will get the dimension displayed as you drag (I don't know why the dimensions aren't shown in the document info panel). Note that Illustrator for iPad exports raster files as 1 pixel = 1 point, so a 1000x1000 pt file would export as 1000x1000 pixels.
