Question

Removing anchor points renders line strokeless

Hey,

For vectorizing a drawing I use the pencil tool. When I want to delete one or more anchor point(s) the rest of the line loses it stroke. When I want to connect to that line and continue drawing it also remains strokeless. What am i doing wrong?

The Pencil tool is really geared for freehand drawing of paths in a kind of a draw it once and you're finished with it manner. The Pen tool is tailored more to laying down paths one anchor point segment at a time as well as being able to edit other points on the path while drawing out the path. For more fine-tuned control I would recommend using the Pen Tool. On the other hand, you can draw out a path using the Pencil for a quick and dirty rough draft pass and then grab the Pen Tool to edit, add or delete points on that path.

Hi @apylyser,

Apologies for the trouble you're facing & delayed response. It seems like the issue might be related to the way you're removing the anchor points. We are unable to replicate the same behavior at our end. Would you mind sharing a screen recording of your workflow and sharing the file with us for further investigation?

Also, please confirm the illustrator version.

We'll be looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
