Screen coming up completely blank white/black when I open app/layers

When I open up my file the screen with all the art boards is blank white, and then goes all black when I click layers menu. I can see all the layers are there but cant see them! Why is the app not working? I have turned iPad off and on, deleted and reinstalled adobe illustrator app. Still same problem!

Is file too big and struggling? How do I fix this?
