There are MANY reports of crashing on launch with Version 18.5 on Mac OS, and a few on Windows.

Some users find resetting prefernces (Reset InDesign Preferences and Other Troubleshooting ) will work, others that running the cleaner tool and reinstalling (Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to solve installation problems ) helps and some that upgrading Mac OS to the latest version works, but most seem to find it necessary to roll back to version 18.4.

Looks like InDesign crashed on you. Can you provide the InDesign version you are using since there are a lot of reports of crashes with the latest version of InDesign.
