Question

100 INDD documents into 1

Hi all,

a friend of mine asked me if I knew a fast way to merge approx 100 indesign documents, containing between 2-4 pages each, into one indesign document. Of course using the Pages panel he can drag & drop them, but doing this a hundred times seems a tedious job to me.

I was wondering if there's script somewhere that enables this?

The pages are all the same size.

Anyone?

Thanks for helping,

Elszy

Here's an impossible solution.

Create a new book. Put in all the files, in the desired order. Select the document to be style source, upon which the document properties will be based. Click Flyout Menu and choose "Combine Book Documents". and boom it's one document.

The Problem, I haven't had a chance to finish and release my Book plug-in.

Sorry for the bad ending.

The problem with scripting is that the threading between pages is lost, requiring a plugin.

Bugger! That looked so good... so they didn't live long and happily ever after... Your script would have been really helpful. Perhaps in a future version of Indesign we might come across such a script. Thanks for showing, Steven
