2018 update & missing keyboard shortcuts

Hi guys-

I updated to Indesign 2018 on Friday afternoon. Today, many of the shortcuts are missing from from my keyboard. CMD+Shift to adjust the size of an object and it's contents; Option+arrow to duplicate are among the missing.  Is anyone else having this problem? Our IT guy did some updates over the weekend & I am not sure if it is something he did or and indesign bug.

What I have done to troubleshoot:

1. Reboot computer

2. uninstall Indesign 2018 & reboot & install Indesign

3. uninstall Indesign 2018 reboot & Install Indesign 2017

None of these have worked, so I uninstalled 2017 & re-installed 2018.

Any Ideas???

That sounds you have software conflicting that are interfering with modifier keys like Option/Alt or Shift. It could be an extension in your web browser that grabs modifier keys, or other software.

Reboot you computer. Open InDesign first before any other software. If the modifier keys work then, slowly open up other software to see which is causing the problem.

It ended up being a third-party add-on that my IT guy installed for security (Webroot).

You could try restoring your InDesign preferences. There's an outside chance that that would fix it:

Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences

But if that doesn't fix it, I'd have your IT guy create a new user on your computer, and try running InDesign from there (with no startup applications). It's got to be either a system user problem or third-party software that's interfering with modifier key problems.

This problem has been posted many times over the last ten to twenty years, and it always comes down to that.
