2025 InDesign Excessive Crashing

Indesign crashes every 10 minutes. It doesn't matter what I am working on, what commands and short cuts I use, it seems like any time I try to do anything in this program, it crashes.

It's not just the latest update, it is categorically the buggiest adobe product and I don't think we should be paying for such a subpar application. Please fix this issue asap becuase it's becomming unusable.

Hi @karenc62466730,

Could you confirm if this UserVoice thread matches the issue you’re facing? https://adobe.ly/4hJD2YK

If it does, upvote and comment on the thread. Also, the current recommendation is to either revert to an older InDesign version if you need to continue using Typeface or disable Typeface while using 20.2. Let me know if your scenario is different in any way.

Also, if you’re seeing the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog, please submit the crash report with your email address included. Then, DM me that email on the community so I can check the logs and get it investigated. Here’s how to submit it: https://adobe.ly/4hI9SJs.

Looking forward to your update!

Hi Jamie,

The only thing we can advise you is to experiment. Typeface has been mentioned as being a problem with InDesign, so you might try to shut down or remove Typeface app and see if the problem resolves.

Here is a compendium of experimentation in troubleshooting.

Same, opening a document and I get a fatal error and it crashes. Just upgraded to 20.2.

I'm tired of being a guinea pig for Adobe while paying high price for subscription. I have work to do and this causes huge productivity issues.

System:

Mac Mini M4
MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2 (24D81)

InDesign 20.2 (updated Mar 16, 2025)

EDIT: It's been noted that Typeface is the issue, which is fair, but Typeface isn't the program that was updated recently but rather InDesign. So what broke?

From some other posts - it has been.

Looks like something has changed in the way InDesign is accessing fonts.

Hi @jamiec5349957,

Sorry to hear about the crashes! Just to clarify, when you mention the latest update, do you mean InDesign 20.2? Also, could you confirm your OS version, as the expert asked?

When exactly does the crash happen? At launch, while using a tool, or during a specific action? If you see the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog, please submit the report and include your email address. Then, DM me the email you used, so I can check the logs and get it investigated. I could not find any reports under your community email. Reference: Submit Crash Reports.

In the meantime, try these troubleshooting steps and let me know if they help:

Looking forward to your update!
