Hi, is anyone know, if we send an A4 document with 3mm bleed to the print shop. what size of paper do they use? ( should be bigger than A4 right) So do they have their own standard papers specified to print and trim off as A4 ?

Print shops use oversized paper and typically don't print 1 copy - they will step it up to have multiple copies on the same sheet of paper and then they trim it down on a guillotine.

For A4 they might use RA4 or SRA4

If stepping it 2 up they'd use RA3 or SRA3

4 up - RA4 or SRA4

etc.

Depending on how large thir print machines are.

There are some digital presses can print SRA2 size paper

But it might be rare (it is where I live)

And then anything for large print runs are typically done on a lithographic press or similar

and they might use SRA1 or similar.
