add anchor points to path

how can I extend this path I created with the pen tool?

With the Selection tool, move the arrow head out of the way for now.

With the Direct Selection tool, click on the path.

Select one of the end anchor points and drag it longer.

With the Selection tool, move the arrow head to where you want it.
