Question

Adjust Layout, Liquid Layout and Styles

I'm attempting to scale up a multi-page layout without breaking the character & paragraph styles.

Once the typography is scaled it either loses the link to the associated style (in the case of Adjust Layout) or InDesign creates an override (in the case of Liquid Layout scaling).

I'd like to scale this document and be able to update my styles with the resulting scaling values. I could use liquid layout to derive the values but there doesn't seem to be an automatic way to have the styles update.

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

I haven't seen InDesign break the link to the style in either case, so I may be missing something.

In the case of Adjust Layout, make sure that "Adjust Font Size" is checked because it's not a sticky setting. You'll get style overrides that then must be handled with "Redefine Style," but that's reasonably quick to do unless you have dozens of styles. (To help speed things along so you don't miss anything, turn on "Show overrides" in the Paragraph Styles panel.)

Create Alternate Layout creates a new, separate style group if you check "Copy Text Styles to New Style Group." That might be easier for you to work with.
