Hi @Aaryaa Nimesh26913910d0lq,

I'm really sorry to hear you've lost progress after working on the file for days. I know how tough that can be.

To help us investigate further, could you please confirm the version of InDesign you're using and your operating system details? Also, is this crash happening only with one specific file or with all files you try to open?

When the crash occurs, do you see the Adobe Crash Reporter window appear? If yes, please go ahead and submit the crash report, and share the email address you entered via DM, so I can look up the logs and escalate the issue if needed. Reference: https://adobe.ly/4kHGaWz

In the meantime, I recommend reviewing the troubleshooting steps in this article to rule out common causes like font or plugin issues:

It would also be helpful to test the issue in Safe Mode to see if any background processes might be interfering:

Windows: https://adobe.ly/4o0mmRm

macOS: https://adobe.ly/4kPmS1N

Additionally, please try creating a new local admin user account on your system and see if the crash happens there as well. This helps identify if the problem is related to your user profile.

macOS: https://adobe.ly/4nSU6zM

Windows: https://adobe.ly/4kMNErk

Let me know how it goes once you've tried the steps.

Looking forward to your update.

If the help provied by @Mike Witherell did not help then you can try the following. If you are opening InDesign by double clicking a document then maybe the document or some font used within it is corrupted. Try launching InDesign without a file and see if it helps. Another thing to check is if you have any 3rd party plugin or scripts installed, if so then remove them and then try.

Specifically, what have you tried? Is it the InDesign app that is crashing or the one document you are working on? The link to the troubleshooting compendium explores both of these kinds of problems.

Hi Aaryaa,

Try experimenting through this troubleshooting compendium. Your problem might need a reset of preferences in one of up to 4 ways to do it. All is described in the link.
