OK, this is unacceptable. I have been with Adobe, and have run their programs for years, and all the sudden I can't run any of these design programs...what's up? Can't create and save a new doc, can't open a previous project and save it, or even Save As anything.  HELP!!!!!!

Hi Lynette,

my suggestion would be to update your macOS to version 13.5.

That resolved similar issues for others here in the forum. At least for InDesign 18.5.0.

Could you tell us your machine specs?

Model, RAM, processor, free disk space…

Thanks,

Hi @Lynette2264828441pc ,

I'm sorry to learn about the trouble. I recommend giving the suggestions provided by Barb a try. Additionally, you might find a solution in this related conversation: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/unable-to-save-documents-in-indesign/m-p/11778338#M411679. Please keep us updated on whether these suggestions resolve your issue or if you require more assistance.

Hi Lynette:

Since you are asking on the InDesign forum, let's start there. Did you migrate your preferences when you updated? Is that when InDesign stopped offering you the option to use New, Save, Save as and Open?

When InDesign begins to behave erratically, consider rebuilding your cache and preferences. Doing so will solve most of these issues, and the link below explains both the keyboard technique (which works most of the time) as well as the more thorough approach to deleting (or renaming) your cache and preferences, which tends to resolve the more stubborn issues not rectified by the keyboard approach.

Hi @Lynette2264828441pc ,

in the case of InDesign:

Did you update to InDesign 2023 version 18.5.0 ?

When on macOS, did you update to version 13.5 ?

Are you offline ( no internet ) when you are working with InDesign 2023 ?

Can you explain in more detail what exactly happens? Does the software not start or does it crash when you open a file or do you get any error messages?

Hello
My situation is this...
I am running MacOS 13.4.1
Indesign 18.5
Photoshop 24.7.0 and
Illustrator 27.3.1

I just updated to the most recent version of InDesign...now I can't Save,
Save As, or even Save a Copy???????

Thanks

Did you keep a copy of the old version of these programs? Maybe try downgrading and see if the error still exists. If not we can go from there.

What version of these apps are you using, and on what platform/OS?

There seems to be a common bug with v18.4 and 18.5, the most current releases, causing these problems. If you're current, you might look through other threads here to see what solutions have been proposed.
