All my InDesign files can't be saved and give error code 2, making a package crashes ID instantly

All files on my companies drive seem to be corrupt. Every time we try to open and save a file ID throws these error messages:

  • InDesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but it appears to be damaged.
  • InDesign is unable to perform the requested operation on the file “xxxx”.
  • could not complete your request because of a database error

I tried installing an older version of InDesign, but since the files were saved in a newer version ID doesn't even want to open the files without ‘repairing’ the file, which btw, does nothing.

Trying to create a package immediately crashes InDesign without a warning.

What is going on? We have deadlines and this is unacceptable behaviour for such an expensive software package!

Yes that is the exact same problem.

I checked again if there is a windows update and there was ( KB5078127 )! Downloaded and installed it, now InDesign seems to behave like normal again with OneDrive files.

@MinttuL as I told @Bas V try opening the Indesign file as a ‘copy’ in InDesign. It worked for me. And I also saved the file as IDML and InDesign. And I forgot, I even exported as a PDF too!

@Bas V I literally had that same issue. I tried to open as a ‘copy’ and it was able to open the file, and then I resaved the file with a slightly name, and also save it as an INDD and IDML for good measure. I was praying ‘thank god!’
