All Settings Windows Pop Up Behind Program

Question

I have no idea the technical terms for this, but I'll start with the example that's easiest to type out.

When I double click on a paragraph style to open the settings, the window appears behind the program. In order to see it, I have to use one of my hot corners (I'm on a Macbook Pro) to show mission control and then select InDesign and then the window will be visable. This happens for all dialog boxes like that in just InDesign, all other Adobe programs are working fine.

Does anyone else have this problem? It's hugely inconvenient to have to swipe up every time I want to adjust a paragraph style or color or export something, etc.

Hi Daniel:

That last comment makes me think you mean you use multiple Desktops on your Mac (not workspaces).

I do the same thing and prefer to have InDesign on one desktop, and Photoshop on the next desktop, and Illustrator on the next desktop. I've set it up so that each opens on specific desktop and I have learned that if I move the application from one desktop to another, the dialog boxes don't move with me.

Try this: close InDesign, and then right click the In icon in the dock > Options > All Desktops. Reopen, and see if that takes care of it.

You are correct, desktops is what it is. Did they call it workspaces before? Who knows where I got that confused, but thank you.

As for the fix, it does, sort of. But then InDesign is in every one of my desktops, which is not helpful.

But what does fix it is doing the same steps but selecting "This Desktop." That brings all the dialog boxes to the correct desktop.

So in summary, thank you! That fixes it for me!

Thanks for sharing the details about the issue. Could you please confirm the version of InDesign you're using? To help troubleshoot, you can try renaming the CEP and UXP folders. First, rename the CEP folder to CEP.old from the following location on Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe. If the issue persists, try renaming the UXP folder to UXP.old from these locations: on Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe and \~/Library/Application Support/Adobe.
