Question

"Allow Document Pages to Shuffle" caused my document to crash and break

After turning on the command "Allow Document Pages to Shuffle" and adding a page to a larger document the whole file crashed, and I have been unable to open it since. It will open for about a second and crash again. I have gone through the adobe troubleshooting steps already. (checked storage space, delete preferences, deleted recovery files, reinstalled inDesign..)

Is there any way to recover this file?

There could be file corruption which causes the crash. If so, try saving it as an IDML: File > Save As > InDesign CS4 or Later [IDML]. Open the IDML file in InDesign and see if this solves the problem.

If it happens to more than one file, try restoring preferences and caches as described here:

Attached is the error I get. I believe it's not saving correctly because as soon as I hit save the program crashes again.

Error reports are usually read by engineers and I can't read it.

Did you try the IDML method I suggested?
