Alternate layout without facing pages?

Question

I have a print design, A4 size in spreads, but I need a version to output as a PDF for distribution online. For the latter, I do not want spreads/facing pages.

I know that I could export a PDF as single pages but I need to add headers on every page (as opposed to just one page on a spread) for the online version so the easiest thing would be to have an alternate layout.

So, I create an alternate layout, make sure it's the active one I'm working on, go to document setup, deselect facing pages but - ACK! - it removes the facing pages from the orginal layout as well.

I need almost idential layouts: one with spreads, one without. Is there no easy way to do this?

OK. Thanks for clarification.  How about an extra layer - with extra info needed for the online version - and made on/off when exporting?

Can you post a screenshot of a single Spread?  Do you have 2xA5 vertical = A4 horizontal?
