An imported table from Word does not show all text, how to fix this?

I've got a Word document with a table that contains cells that contain more text that fit within the maximum rowheight available in inDesign. When I import the Word document, red dots appear in these cells. Is there a way how I can flow the hidden text to a new row? Why does inDesign have a maximum rowheight and is there a way to make this infiite?

A table row can't be taller than 600 points (though a script can set it to any height). The reason is (probably) that INDesign's table rows don't split across pages (as Word's table rows do), so that rows taller than 600 points would cause permanently overset stories.

There are many reuests for InDesign's rows to split across frames/pages. Please add you voice here: https://indesign.uservoice.com

You can go to Cell Options

Not really.

Like in MS Word, you can adjust the width of a column or height of a row, you can merge cells.

In MS Word, where does the 'extra text' go? is it making the cells bigger? Please include a screenshot (Word especially) to help us understand what you are trying to achieve.

In Word the text (the length of one text in a cell spans over two pages) simply flows to the next page where the table is continued...
