Anchored text Box in paragraph

I am typesetting a long journal which also has text boxes. I decided to make these text boxes in-line.

However when i go back and format the text,  these text boxes at the start of a page move to the previous page. This then overlaps the main body text.

 

See image below.

Originally the paragraph marks on the bottom of page 55 were not there.

The orange box on page 56 was on page 55 and the body text (which comes after the orange box below) was actually covered by the orange box.

 

How do i ensure that the orange box never overlaps the body text.

Yep, only frame without text. But paragraph style with shading feature is better.

I do not understand you layout generally:

  1. When you want to have text with a coloured background, use paragraph shading, it can have a round colored attribute.
  2. When you want to anchor objects into a text flow anchor them either in the paragraph before as the first line is ignored or create a separate paragraph (with automatic leading paragraph style). With the paragraph keep options you can define where the paragraph is positioned.
  3. You have a 2 column layout (which makes no sense since InDesign CS5) and a single column text. Make a single column text. If you want to have more columns, do it via object styles, as this gives you more flexibility.
  4. You have a bunch of succeeding returns. Avoid that. Use keep options in the paragraph styles instead.

 

More advices are possible, but we would need more input.

I've had a go with the paragraph shading.

Make one style for the header with orange shading, and offset/rounded corners at top.

Make another for the bulleted list with orange shading and offset/rounded corners at bottom.

The box moves because for InDesign purposes, inline frames are single characters.  When you add text the box may not fit and is moved to the next page. 

I agree with George, floating frames are better, they stay where they are.  Set text wrap on those floating boxes so that they don't overlap text.

    Why don't you use it some frame as anchor? This is wrong workflow.
