App freezes everytime I want to replace/overwrite an PDF...

Does the same thing happen if you try and import a different file type such as a jpg, png or psd?

Does this happen when you export a PDF?

If so: please tell us your system.

And: where is the PDF located?

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. In addition to what Leo asked, please check if this happens with files stored in a specific folder location (internal/external/network drive or a cloud-synced folder like Google Drive/Dropbox/etc.), so we can better assist you.

What are your versions of InDesign and the operating system? Are you talking about PDFs placed in InDesign? There were, actually, recently several reports where users reported that updating/replacing placed PDFs took too long or caused other problems.

For starters, make sure Generative AI options are disabled in Preferences.
