ASCII placed text hyperlink troubles

Hello Everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've scoured this forum and other places, but can't pin-point the solution.

 

I get text exported from an outside system into an ASCII-WIN text file with tagged text and place it linked into my InDesign file. Half the links work and the other half, the links don't even make it (the only thing that comes through is http:// in the Hyperlinks panel)

 

Here's the text (I've also attached the txt file):
I know the URL's are not delimiting special characters, but why do the first 13 links work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yeah, the devs of the service that exports this data are not updating and any update/feature request moves at a glacial pace. I'm going to try and find a properly made tagged text doc and use a script to rewrite the txt file (find : and replace with \: , etc). I know I can export a properly written tagged text doc... but I need to read up on a guide on the syntax. Been looking online, but can't find definitive info on this.

At first - no hyperlinks would import.

 

But after exporting InDesign Tagged Text - and checking correct structure - it looks like some of the characters in the hyperlink should be "escaped" - "?", "/", ":":

 

 

But for some reason, it's not working on all hyperlinks - and then some of the unescaped hyperlinks start working?!?!

 

Overall - your InDesgin Tagged Text is wrong - software that is preparing those files needs to be updated.

This is into a very weak area of my ID-fu, but I was unable to make any successful placement of the content. The hyperlinks all come up faulty and I can't seem to dig deep enough to find out why. I tried both through direct placement of the TXT file and by passing it through InCopy.

    Thank you giving it a try! I didn't even think to go through InC on this. For some reason, I was able to get valid links out of the first 12 or so links and that's even more confusing as to why it worked out that way than not having any working at all.
