Assembling a multi-chapter book

I have several questions about assembling a multi-chapter book in InDesign. The book exceeds 100Mb, so I don't think it makes sense to try to do it as a single indd file. Because my questions deal with different aspects of the process, my sense is that I should make them separate threads rather than bundle them into a single query. Does that make sense?

I use a book file for separate chapters, even on small page-count jobs.

However, I have a 1000-page book that has a chapter that is 361 pages and 367 MBs.

So base your decision on your computer's capabilities, corruption potential, and editing needs.

The book exceeds 100Mb,

Hi @Don34862646jbr5 , 100MB doesn’t seem very large—I work on multi- TB Photshop files all the time.

Are you experiencing unexpected slow downs? Are all your images linked (not embedded)?

You'll definitely want to employ an InDesign Book File (.INDB).  This should get you started. If you have questions after starting the process, we're here to help.

Yes, it does. With that size publication you'd better use a book (indb).
