Auto Heading Title Not Carrying Over to Next Page

I have a paragraph style setup to auto number a sub-heading under each main heading I have. It works great when on one page but when I try to add a subheading on a second page it restarts the numbering instead of continuing. It's working like this:

Heading 1

Subheading 1.1

Subheading 1.2

Subheading 1.3

NEW PAGE

Subheading 1.1

Subheading  1.2

Is there a way to get the sub-heading numbering to continue onto the second page?
