Autoflow PDF?

Hello folks.

 

I've been having a lot of fun with data merge and what it can do to assemble things.

I'm struggling a little with one of two things (either of which solves the problem)

The first being autoflowing PDFs into waiting templates. Assuming I have 5-10 on  a page and 300 entrees. It becomes very tedious using the place method and clicking every frame in in turn.

 

The other being is there a way with data merge to cue Indesign to switch between 2 layouts? a set that follows and fills copies of page 1 with data and then have it hit a data point that causes it to switch to page 2 as it's template.

 

I'm not sure I've explained it very well and will happily provide more details if what i'm getting at even seems possible

It's likely I'm using the wrong terms.

I'm aware you can make several frames and then using the place menu, put each page of a pdf into one of those frames within a single page on in design. By auto flow I  meant having that occur automatically.

Though in theory if I use a convert PDF to CSV and then use data merge with the new csv file it might drop them all in where I want them. I'll give it a play and see
