Automatically hide or show an image linked to a conditional text

Hi there everyone,

I'm working in a news media, trying to automate most of our print processes.

I have successfully created conditional text which is linked to an image. A 4 is linked to 4 hats, 3.5 to 3.5 hats etc... The numbers are inside a specific box, so I figured that we would just have to write 4 to get 4 hats. The images are anchored objects. You can see the video attached.

Problem is: the show/hide option only works when clicking on the "eye" button. I would like to link my condition's showing to the fact InDesign detects the condition itself in a specific bloc.

Is there a way of doing so?

The idea would be:
1/ I have a specific bloc with a number inside, being sent to the article on InDesign.
2/ Based on the number, the condition would be shown and the rest masked.

In theory, you could have four (or so) icon images, in graphics frames, anchored to a single empty paragraph in a text frame, and apply a conditional setting to each one. Thus, if Condition 4 is set, any text assigned that tag would show, along with the anchor/image associated with it.

In practice, this might be fussy to set up and would need four (or however many) icons with identical dimensions in frames with identical settings — an Object Style would be essential here. And applying the conditional text to anchors would need typo-microsurgery (stepping carefully over from the start of the paragraph to select the right one). But one such exemplar could be replicated, of course.

The problem is that conditional text is document-wide, so it would be impossible to have, say, a series of reviews where one has a Three and the next has a Two, and so forth. Manually selecting the icon, or associating it with a particular Paragraph Style as a bullet character, might be simpler although not entirely automatic.
