Best practices for Fonts on InDesign Server

Question

Hi we utilize InDesign Server to generat PDFs for our InDesign / InCopy workflow system. When a user checkes a InDesign file back into the system it generates a PDF for a web version of our workflow system.

We have historically installed our font mangament software (Extensis) on the server and activate all the fonts. There are many fonts and generally it works, but we do run into issues were fonts are not picked up.

Our support team restarts InDesign Server and sometimes deativates/activates fonts to get it to work again.

I've suggested in the past to just put all the fonts in the InDesign Server fonts folder, but getting push back as they only want to utilize Extensis Connect for licensing issues etc.

What is the officially supported recomendation for fonts on IDS

It appears that you need to contact Extensis and work with them on resolving the issue (provided that the Extensis Connect version you have does officially support InDesign Server).
