Beta InCopy Loading Issues

We’re trying to integrate the Beta version of InCopy into a process. As we test it out with different users, we noticed that some of the users are unable to open the files while others have no issues opening them. Everyone is using Chrome and there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why it doesn’t work. Any tips on getting files open for all users?

The new beta feature known as Share for Text Editing as well as InCopy on the Web is a wonderful concept that generally does not yet work well. Testing with it forces you to convert your file to a new filetype, an INDDL file. It fails most of the time in the browser. Try the actual Adobe InCopy instead. It works well, and it works well with your INDD files.

    Hi @Anubhav M

One of the users confirmed that she didn’t have any plug ins and Chrome is up-to-date. I’m working to get an a brief video of it. With that information, is there anything we can do on our end?

Have you considered a traditional InCopy workflow?

That’ll be our next approach if the Beta version won’t load for all of our necessary stakeholders.

    Hello @savanah.carlin

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind confirming whether all of your users are using an up-to-date version of Chrome and whether they don’t have any interfering plugins?
If the problem persists, share a brief screen recording so I can look into it further with the team.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @savanah.carlin,

Thanks for sharing the recording. I'm sorry you're running into this issue.

To help us investigate further, could you please let me know:

    • Does this happen with every Beta InCopy file, or only certain files?
    • What Windows version and exact InDesign/InCopy Beta version are the affected users running?
    • Does the issue reproduce in Chrome Incognito mode?
    • Are the affected users all on the same corporate network or VPN?
    • Could one of the affected users try opening the file while connected to a different network (for example, a mobile hotspot) and let me know if that makes any difference?

Also, if the issue continues and it's feasible to generate a new link, could you try saving the source document locally as an IDML file, reopening the IDML, saving it as a new INDD file, and then sharing it again using Share for Text Editing? Please let me know whether users are able to open the newly shared file.

Looking forward to your update so that we can investigate further with the product team.

    Best,
    Abhishek
