Blue circle keeps spinning at the top of the document

I don’t know when this started or what caused it.

When I open my document the blue wheel at the top keeps spinning constantly.

After I click on the blue wheel another box opens titled Background Tasks and displays Adding Font and a blue line going back and forth to the right of the font name Times New Roman Regular.

It does the constantly.

What is this and how do I get it to stop.

I have attached and image to show what I am talkign about.

Correct answer Attroll

Times New Roman cannot be deleted because it is a system font. I am having the same issue as the writer, I have uninstalled InDesign and reinstalled it but I keep having font issues and freezing episodes.

I wanted to do a followup on my issue.

I was able to get this resolved. I found the font that was trying to load in one of my master pages.

Once I removed that font the issue went away.

I had never thought to check my master pages.

I’m having the same issue. It’s trying to load Times New Roman. But I don’t use TNR, never have. (It’s illegal/copyright infringement, if you’re using system fonts to write and publish books). Anyway, that font is not in my document anywhere. Still, the blue circle grinding. I have closed out of Adobe products, CC, ID,  rebooted, cleaned my caches. Nothing works. Any other suggestions?

Maybe I fixed it...so far, it seems to be working. I unchecked the “auto add adobe fonts” in  preferences/file handling (even though the font is Times New Roman, and I wasn’t using it anywhere). Then I closed ID, opened it again, and went back in to recheck the box to auto add adobe fonts (a feature I desperately need).

The blue circle has disappeared. Not sure why, or if it will continue to be a solution, but we’ll see.

Seems like a font sync issue. Logout/login into your creative cloud account and see if it helps

Hi Attroll,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble. In addition to our expert's suggestion, could you please tell us the version of InDesign installed on your machine and the details of your operating system? Does that happen with every file and every font?

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika
