Broken Links

I don't know if this an InDesign problem or a Sharepoint problem. I work on a team. Our files are stored on Sharepoint and we use OneDrive. Someone on the team creates an InDesign project and someone else on the team may need to go in and capture edits. Recently we have been having an issue with the links. The links are all working for User 1 but when User 2 opens the file the links are all broken. User 2 relinks all the files and saves the file. User 1 opens the file again, all the links are now broken for them. If only User 1 works on the file, from start to finish, the links are fine.

It can take some time to relink because some of the links may be in different folders on Sharepoint. We might have to look for links is Folder A, Folder B, Folder C.

Any ideas on why this is a new issue?

If it is missing because of a change. You need just to double click on the link and it should update.

Mac or PC ?

Can you check any of the good / broken links on both machines - what is the path ? Before and after relinking ?

It is happening with PC to PC and PC to Mac. I have attached a before and after screenshot of the path. Also if we go to relink and tell to relink all missing files in the folder, it only relinks the one image, even if there are several in the folder.

What is the drive letter under the mouse icon on the before screenshot?

Hi @Veronica22551996i6fw,

What is meant by a broken link?
Do you use local OneDrive for working?
It will be great if you add screenshots for better understanding.

When User 1 is created an InDesign file the links are locally downloaded on his/her system.
When User 2 opens that file after the sync OneDrive downloads links files in User 2 local drive.

User 1 or User 2 anyone makes any changes in the link folder every time you will get an Issue with Links alert.

When you click on Don't Update Links then you have to manually relink images or relink from Link panel

Yes, we use a local OneDrive when working. We work remotely. I am not getting that dialog box when opening the file. While the file is opening, I see the screenshot of the links panel where it has the clocks, then when it is fully opened I see all the broken links. There is a links folder in the document folder BUT we there could be several other locations the files were linked to. They were linked correctly but not everything is in one folder. Even the ones in the document/links folder are not connecting.
