Can I add page tags to InDesign file in order to export/print only those pages?

I'm wondering if there is any sort of feature or extension that will allow me to tag or label specific pages within an InDesign file so that I can export or print only those pages containing particular tags by specifying a tag (or tags) in the export/print dialog.

Basically I need a way to export multiple different PDF versions from a single master InDesign file. The master file has many pages but each exported PDF would need to be a different smaller subset of pages from the master file. Some pages of the master file would be included in multiple versions of the export PDFs and others would only be included in a single specific version. So ideally I would be able to add multiple tags to the same page to include that page in multiple output versions.

What I'm trying to avoid is having to make the same edits (now and in the future) to multiple documents that contain common content. So if I could only make an edit once in a master file and then re-export multiple versions of it, that would be ideal. If there is some other way to accomplish this that's not what I'm describing, please let me know.

There's niothing out of the box to do this, but you might consider doing multiple files, then combining them in an InDesign Book. It's easy to selct a group of documents in a Book to export. Only issue will be page numbering, but I think taht woudl be an issue with a single file as well.

Thanks Peter. A book could potentially work although for this particular document I think that could be a logistical challenge to setup – the master document has many pages and it feels like I might have to save each page as its own document in order to organize the different books as I would want them? The knowledge base does make it sound like I could overcome the page numbering issue you mentioned though.  🙂

I'm not sure a Book would work here since I'm going to have multiple export versions I'm going to need to generate from it and they are going to include different pages in a way that may not be possible to

Sorry, disregard the last sentence above. That was the start of my initial response before I read up on Books a bit more...
