I have the pages set up for 2 columns. I want to change  1 page only to 1 column in this book. Is this possible?

Yes, of course you can. Choose the Parent page, then just select the left or right page you want to change, choose Layout, Margins and Columns and change it to what you want. If that page has a Primary Text Frame, choose the Text frame on that page, then choose Object > Text Frame options, and change the number of columns for that Text Frame.

Go to the page you want to change.

Go to Layout > Margins and Columns.

Set the column to 1

If the text frame itself is set to 2 columns - then change the Column settings in the Text Frame options.

If your text reflows you will have to manually apply the columns setup to the new pages.

A way to avoid this would be to have the Text Paragraph Style set up to Split Columns - and choose 2.

Then create a new style for 1 column text (based on the 2 column)

If the text reflows - you will not have to change manually.

Unfortunately - text can still go across to the 2 column page.

I can't think of a way to automate the process of the text following the column throughout.

Here's the example file.
