Can I index words that have footnotes?

I've obviously baffled the tech support team, so hoping someone here knows.

 

The index isn't picking up the page numbers for words that have footnotes. Does this mean I can't index a word with a footnote?

Remember, never say you can't do something in InDesign, it's always just a question of finding the right workaround to get the job done. © David Blatner
