Question

Can´t delete file from earlier InDesign-installation!

I recently uninstalled InDesign CS 5.5 from my iMac, which resulted in a bunch of disposable files in the trash bin. But when I try to empty the trash, I get the following message Operation can't be completed because the item “Paragraph Rules Panel.InDesignPlugin” is in use. I have tried deleting the file through terminal, force delete and even reinstalling InDesign CS 5.5 in the hope, that I might be able to overwrite the file, and then uninstall it again with the rest of the program folder — but the file still remains along with the plug-in folder and the program folder: Adobe Indesign 5.5/Plug-ins/ParagraphRulesPanel.InDesignPlugin

I have tried to start up my iMac in safe mode, but apparently this is not possible in Mojave (which is the OS I am running), so this is not a solution.

I hope, that someone on this forum is able to help me, since I am running out of ideas

Thanks!

Have you tried repairing permissions, and then attempting to delete it afterward?

Yes thanks, I already tried this - using the disk utility - but I still can´t delete them

I actually managed to make my iMac start up in safe mode (after 80 minutes of progress bar), but I can´t delete the file in this mode either. When I try to delete it using terminal it writes "unlink", which probably means, that I should unlink the file from the process/application, that´s using it, but how can I do that?
