Can't Edit Text in .indd Files After Moving to a New Computer

I recently got a new computer and am trying to edit some .indd files (via 2022). They open just fine, but when I double click a text box to edit the text, the caret doesnt appear. I am able to move text boxes around/select/delete/etc. but no caret appears to change the text. Any ideas?

A somewhat similiar issue was reported in the following thread as well

We may have a bug in the latest version I suppose. @amelia5E27 can you please confirm the details @leo.r asked for. Also, it would be very kind of you if you could verify the issue reported in the discussion I linked above

Does this happen with all files or only a particular file? If it is a particular file then may be the file is corrupted, in such a case export to IDML, resave back to INDD and then try. Also, trashing preferences could help

I found another file I am able to edit the text on, so it looks like it is only this or a select few that cannot be edited. I tryies to export to idml and then resaving as indd but that did not do anything (unless I did it wrong?). Where would I go to trash preferences?

just to make sure: have you already updated to the recent Ventura? once again, InDesign had issues on any pre-13.5 version. maybe not necessarily related to your problem, but you must update first to see if it solves the issue.

What are your exact versions of InDesign and the operating system?
