Lets make things a bit more clear: a GIF is no problem, it is an ANIMATED GIF that will not work in PDF. Try FXL epub if you want to create ‘interactive’ things.

Hi,

PDF format doesn't have support to GIFs.

But we can use video and sound files in PDF to read from desktop and notebooks. Remember that these users must have the flash player install to play multimidia.

Now a days, a good option to use all (almost all) interactive features from InDesign is ePUB FXL, Publish Online and In5 plug-in

Maybe you could back up and tell us exactly what you're trying to achieve and why. Interactive PDF is a crapshoot anywhere but desktop and laptops with Acrobat Pro or Reader.

Hi CreativeCommon,

I believe you are working with Adobe Reader DC which is a free application of Adobe? As Adobe Reader is a free app, so it has certain limitation in its functionality.

If you are willing to add video or any other multimedia formats, then you need to use Adobe Acrobat DC which is a paid application.

How does it works using Acrobat, for that you may see- Playing video, audio, and multimedia formats in PDFs, Adobe Acrobat

Hope this will help.
