Can't get the printer to fold and staple a booklet created in InDesign using a MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro and I've been tasked with created an event program that needs to be printed on 8.5 x 11 then folded and stapled. When I use 2-up saddle stitch, it just prints it flat. This is becoming very frustrating because I can print, fold, & staple our newsletter on 11x17 paper, but I can't do this. I've tried exportng it ot PDF and printing, folding, and stapling and that doesn't work either. Help!

So, you are using the imageRunner's built in booklet printing option under Finishing? That would be the best approach: i.e. exporting your file as indivdual 5.5. x 8.5 PDF pages and printing those nas a booklet. Also: make sure you have a driver for your printer that supports Sonoma. many older printers don't and even if you've successfully installed it in your system, it could be crippled in various ways. e.g. the driver for my HP wide format, which works fine on older OS's, is missing some print options in Monterey and Ventura.

First questions: what printer are you using, as well as your versions of InDesign and macOS?
