Can't Save or Undo in Indesign CC 2023

As the title says. I recently downloaded InDesign CC and I am experiencing this with the first file I've created. The `save` and `undo` buttons in the menu are disabled and the keyboard shortcuts also do nothing. When I try closing the file > do you want to save changes? > save > I get an error that says the file "can't be saved under a new name".

 

Please help, I do not want to lose my work.

    I am having this EXACT same issue.  I have the most up to date version of Indesign. I shouldn't have to drag everything into a new file to be able to save it.  What can be done?

      I can save but cannot undo. It is getting REALLY annoying and difficult to work -- didn't realize how often I used that.

      What operating system? Are you working locally, network, cloud? Have you tried InDesign 2024?

      Are you able to save it as Untitled-1?

       

      Can you make a new file, and then drag your pages (in the Pages panel) to the new file, and then save that one?
